Dear Austin & Michelle: Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Have you seen a leprechaun yet? We haven’t. But, we’re looking really hard for one. Do you know why we are looking for a leprechaun? There’s a story that all leprechauns have a hidden pot of gold. If you can catch a leprechaun, you can get him to tell you where he has hidden his pot of gold. We want to know if the story about the gold is true. So, we’re looking for a leprechaun. We have never seen a leprechaun. But, we’ve seen some pictures. Leprechauns are not very tall. In fact, they are shorter than a kitchen cabinet.  Some people say that all leprechauns are old. But, we have seen pictures of younger leprechauns. Besides, how would a leprechaun get to be old if he was never young? Now, we have never seen a picture of leprechaun with brown hair. They always have red hair. Well, except for the ones who are bald-headed. But, even the bald-headed leprechauns have red beards. That’s the other thing. We have never seen a picture of a leprechaun who was a girl. But, we think there are probably girl leprechauns. So, we’re going to look for short red-headed girls, too. Most people say that leprechauns spend their time making shoes. And, you can sometimes find a leprechaun by following the sound of a hammer hitting a shoe. So, we’ve been busy hitting our shoes with a hammer so that we’ll know the sound when we hear it. Well, that’s about all we know. We’re looking for a red-headed boy with a red beard who is shorter than a kitchen cabinet. And, we are going to listen for the sound of a hammer hitting a shoe!
